What is Inner Beauty?

Outer beauty – while it may be essential to many of us but what reflects on your face results from how you feel inside. For the longest time, there has been a notion that outer beauty outdoes everything; however, many fail to understand that the two are interconnected. Sridevi once said, “What you feel inside reflects on your face,” and we definitely, couldn’t agree more.

Inner beauty comprises what makes up ‘you’—you as a person. Your heart, mind, soul – everything is connected to it and is all about loving yourself. Have you ever wondered if you are somehow attracted to people when they are kind, generous, and confident? Well, that is where inner beauty plays a crucial role. People say that actions speak louder than words, and that is how everyone reads you – as a person and human being. What holds importance is how empathetic you are towards the person opposite to you. It doesn’t matter how pretty you are outside if your inner one tells a different story. Your inner beauty describes who you are and represents your soul.

As we look at TV commercials, we question whether we are beautiful enough, but we never suspect if our mind is relaxed enough or if we need to add calmness to balance our senses. We lag there! It’s because we try to adhere to society’s set beauty standards, and we lose ourselves from within. It is not about the best skin care products available on the market, but it is all about choosing right over wrong, going with your inner beauty rather than outer.

If you are someone who’s been trying to gauge their inner beauty but somehow feels lost – there are steps you can take to bring a positive change in your life & others too.

  • List down the names of people you like & mention why you respect them: As you note, you’ll understand there might be a few similarities. There are a few you can rely on; there would be a few who’ve been with you through & thick, while there’ll be a few whom you love for their kindness. This list will help you understand the meaning of inner beauty.
  • Remind yourself every day that you are beautiful inside out. Look into the mirror and smile at yourself.
  • Lastly, be honest with yourself. Until and unless you cannot be completely honest with your mind and body – you won’t be able to share your thoughts with someone whose inner beauty you appreciate.

Now, as we circle back, can we try and accept that inner beauty is real beauty? Can we move over expensive cosmetic products of whose elements we are unaware? Can we switch to classic beauty that nourishes us from the outside and inside? Can we be kind to ourselves & to others each day? While you may figure out the answer in your mind, for us, it would be a clear yes.
